The body has its own ways to achieve the relaxation it needs and often it does so by releasing Endorphins into the brain. The problem occurs when we accidently discover detrimental ways to get that relaxation – to get that Endorphins cascade going. For instance, if our way to achieve our Endorphins is mainly via eating, then obviously, over time, we would probably get fat. If our way to achieving peace is always through having sex, we would become addicted to sex - a problem which becomes more and more common recently. This problem makes it difficult to maintain monogamous relationships and may even result in a constant offset of all our attention and efforts to the search of the next sexual object.
If, never the less, by chance, we discovered that the good feeling accompanies a good massage, most chances are we will become regular customers with the masseur or the Shiatsu therapist, and if we have a home massage device, it would become our most valuable object.
Those who are addicted to food or sex are simply recommended to replace one addiction with another healthier. Please note, you brain is conditioned. This conditioning misleads you to think that food is the thing you love and need, or sex to that score. But this is not the case - you are actually addicted to those Endorphins that are secreted in your brain and all you have to do is just find another way of getting them.
Think for a moment about drug-addicts. Typically drug-addicts would be unusually thin. Can you think what would the reason be for that? After all, heroin (a type of morphine) does not speed up the metabolism. Well, heroin does simply create that feeling of happiness and internal peace, and so the junkie doesn't need another pleasure – the pleasure of eating. For the same reason drug-addicts also have a diminished sex – they taught themselves to get the morphine from the syringe instead of internally.
To sum things up, all those addicted to one bad habit or another, try to replace one source of Endorphins with another. Select an Endorphins source that would not consume your health and fortune. Over time, it's the only way you could really get to a deep sense of inner peace in a useful and maybe even healthy manner.
